Instagram Introduces First Draft to Make Reel Editing Easier 

Instagram has launched a tool called First Draft. This tool automatically trims your video clips. Take out the long pauses. It then puts everything together to make a cut for your Reels. The feature could help creators because it makes the editing process much faster. Most creators usually have to cut and move every video clip by hand. Now First Draft does the hard work for you. 

The feature was announced on August 25. Is initially rolling out on iPhone. Users can access First Draft through the Instagram camera while recording or through the Reels gallery after selecting clips. 

According to Instagram the feature can create a version of a video in less than 10 seconds. Creators can then review the draft, make changes and add their adjustments before sharing the final video. 

First Draft focuses on some of the repetitive parts of Reel editing.Each clip is checked to remove pauses or unwanted parts. Creators can then start with a cut that’s automatically prepared and later improve it as they wish. 

The new tool can also make video editing easier, for people who do not know how to use editing software. Then starting with a blank timeline users receive a basic cut that can be adjusted to suit the style of their content.  

The feature is not the automated video editing tool available to creators. Adobe Firefly’s Quick Cuts and CapCut’s Auto Cut already offer functions. However having the tool within Instagram means creators can work on their footage without moving it to another editing application. 

This year the company added a feature. This feature lets users change the music on existing feed posts and carousels. You do not have to delete and upload the posts again. 

The company is also working on tools for creators. These new tools are, for the Edits video-editing app.. It has been testing Series, which allows related Reels to be grouped together so viewers can watch them in an order. 

For Instagram Reels creators First Draft offers a way to prepare multiple clips before publishing. The tool could reduce the amount of manual Reel editing required while still leaving creators in control of the version. 

The feature is currently rolling out on iPhone. Instagram has not specified when First Draft will become available on devices. As short-form video remains a part of the platform, easier video editing could help creators spend less time preparing clips and more time developing their content.
