Real Madrid Legends vs Barcelona Legends: Kolkata Match Set for November 25

Real Madrid Legends and Barcelona Legends will face off in a match to be hosted in Kolkata on November 25, 2026, at Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan (Salt Lake Stadium). On social media, West Bengal sports minister Indranil Khan posted about the news, as per the report. The participating players have not yet been officially confirmed.

The fixture will bring former players from the two Spanish clubs to a city with a long-standing association with football. The rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona, widely known as El Clásico, has attracted fans around the world for decades.

The proposed match follows two international friendlies involving the Indian men’s football team at Salt Lake Stadium earlier this month. India faced Brazil on October 3 and Uruguay on October 6, bringing international attention to Kolkata’s football scene.

The legends’ exhibition would offer supporters another opportunity to watch former stars associated with the two Spanish clubs. However, details regarding the squads, kick-off time and ticket sales remain unconfirmed.

In April 2025, Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium hosted a legends’ match between Barcelona and Real Madrid. Barcelona’s team was led by Carles Puyol, while Luís Figo captained Real Madrid. The squads featured several well-known former players, including Fernando Morientes, Pepe, Michael Owen, Javier Saviola, Xavi and Rivaldo. Real Madrid Legends won the match.

A similar exhibition had been proposed for Mumbai in 2017 but was postponed because some players were unavailable. The organisers had initially planned to hold the fixture in Kolkata before shifting the venue to Mumbai because of logistical difficulties. The match ultimately did not take place as planned.

The November fixture would add another legends’ contest to Kolkata’s football calendar. However, the participating players must be confirmed before any names can be presented as part of the final squads.

Earlier reports about the proposed 2017 match mentioned former stars such as Roberto Carlos, Ronaldinho, Nicolas Anelka, Luís Figo, Carles Puyol, Simao, Fernando Morientes and Michel Salgado. Those names relate to the earlier proposal and should not be treated as confirmation of who will play in November 2026.

The next step is an official announcement confirming the squads, ticketing arrangements and match timings. Until the organisers release those details, November 25, 2026, should be treated as the announced date for the proposed Kolkata exhibition.
