Humble Beginnings

Santosh’s story begins in Odisha, where a childhood amidst verdant fields, shaped by his parents’ modest livelihoods, planted the seeds of a lifelong passion for agriculture. He later earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, and pursued an MBA in Agri‑Business along with an MS in Information Technology in Agriculture from DAIICT, Gandhinagar. This rare combination of agricultural science and technology would later inform his pioneering approach at Go Green.

For over two decades, Santosh refined his craft across India’s foremost agribusiness companies: Godrej Agrovet, Reliance Retail, Spencer’s Retail, Worlds Window, NBHC, NCML and Kunvarji. These roles, spanning rural FMCG retail to commodity financing and cold-chain logistics, immersed him in the full spectrum of agricultural value‑chain challenges. Each experience sharpened his insight into issues like warehousing inefficiencies, distress selling, and post‑harvest losses.

Yet it was this blend of empathy and analysis that set him apart. Drawing on both rural humility and corporate rigor, he internalized a vision: to build infrastructure that created lasting value for all stakeholders. Recognizing trust as the weak link, too often missing in agri-logistics, Santosh began envisioning a transparent, farmer-centric warehousing ecosystem.

This awakening crystallized in conversations with Maulik Shah, an agrilogistics entrepreneur. Their mutual respect and shared purpose fueled the founding of Go Green Warehouses in 2018, merging Maulik’s 2012 warehouse venture with Santosh’s ambition to trust-build at scale. From an idea rooted in humble beginnings rose a mission: wealth creation through sustainable, technology-enabled agri‑warehousing.

Planting the Model

In 2018, Santosh and Maulik planted their vision in Gujarat, launching Go Green Warehouses as an ecosystem, not merely a warehouse operator. Their philosophy: implement all critical agri-value chain services, finance, quality testing, aggregation, and market access, under one roof to empower farmers.

Their trademark model addressed systemic gaps faced by smallholders: inadequate storage, lack of collateral financing, and exploitative intermediaries. By partnering with 30+ banks/NBFCs, the venture enabled farmers to collateralize stored produce, bridging liquidity and avoiding immediate distress sales . Quality-assay labs, branded Gogreen Labs, offered rapid testing, elevating trust in product handling.

Trust, Santosh asserts, is built on “8 Cs”: clarity, compassion, character, competence, commitment, connection, contribution, and consistency. He envisions a national “farm‑to‑fork” grid, feeding urban centers through digital supermarket hubs and e‑commerce dark stores, underpinning India’s food‑security goals.
